Foggy Day
- Monday, December 12, 2022 16:34
It has been foggy all day today. Everything is damp and you can barely see across the street. This is the kind of fog you expect ghost pirates to come creeping out of seeking vengeance on the townsfolk for something their ancestors did. It’s a good thing Elk City has its own lighthouse, otherwise, we’d have prairie schooners crashing into the rock-covered walls of Ackley ballpark.
Did you have a good weekend? Ours was okay, I guess. It was one of those lazy don’t get off the couch kind of weekends. However, I did manage to do a little shopping on Saturday. Boy was that a mistake. Wall-to-wall people at our local Walmart. This holiday shopping frenzy is upon us.
Thanks for all the sympathy and well wishes everyone sent after my last newsletter. It was much appreciated. Didn’t intend for it to be such a downer. We still miss the little guy, but Donna and I are doing much better. So much so I was able to hang up one of our favorite pictures of Widget with his favorite person. It makes me sad, but happy at the same time. That’s memories for you.
I read an interesting article last week about some new meteorite discoveries being named for Alva, Oklahoma.
Speaking of space science, did you see the splashdown of the Orion capsule NASA sent around the moon? In a few more years we’ll see people walking on the moon again.
Oh, just a small reminder, if you want to read some news from around our state, please follow Blog Oklahoma on Mastodon. Also, check out our News page on the Blog Oklahoma website for links to even more Oklahoma news resources.
Donna and I are searching for new recipes for pork roasts. I did find a couple of recipes for Tacos al Pastor that looked interesting. One was by Kent Rollins and the other Guga Foods. If you know of any recipes, please feel free to pass them along. Only can do pulled pork and roast dinner so many times. Ha!
Ever since it was reported Oxford named “Goblin Mode” the 2022 word of the year, I couldn’t help but listen to Nekrogoblicon all week. Weird how my brain works like that.
Oh, I almost forgot. I was supposed to explain the change in the Newsletter format, wasn’t I?
It was reported a few weeks ago that Twitter might be shutting down Revue, the newsletter service we’re using, at the end of the year. None of the other services I looked at had the same kind of editor that Revue has. All are geared toward more text-based. After giving it some thought, If I were to move the newsletter, I would be forced to change the style anyway. So why not experiment now? I’m leaning toward this more casual conversation-style newsletter. I kind of like it. How about you? Your feedback is always welcome.
